MINIMI NATURALI

Minimi naturali is the show with works by artists Andrea Pertoldeo and Marit Wolters, exhibited at Metronom from October 27th to December 22nd 2021.

Minimi naturali or "Minima naturalia", with reference to Aristotle's philosophy, are 'the smallest parts into which a substance can be divided without losing its essential character'. Aristotle rejects the concept of emptiness in favor of a space-time continuity that makes every object that occupies a certain volume in space in theory infinitely divisible. These natural minima are what 'remains' of this division process which however maintains the essential characteristics of a substance. Pertoldeo and Wolters carry out, using different media, photography and sculpture, a search for reduction to the essence and space-temporal continuity.

The works of the two artists, a reduced and completed photographic series, Il Roseto, and a series of Seamless acrylic sculptures, offer the possibility of an allusive recognition: the repetition of elements of Il Roseto and the repetition of the Seamless lines do not end in a mirroring as much as in an attempt to 'show'.
