OVERPOPULATION | DIGITAL VIDEO WALL
Overpopulation (2020) by Sara Bezovšek is the sixth and last screening of the Rabbit Hole project, a review curated by Gemma Fantacci for the fourth programme hosted on the DIGITAL VIDEO WALL, at Metronom.
Sara Bezovšek is a Slovenian-born visual artist dealing with new media. Her practice consists of collecting and archiving video material from mainstream culture, such as memes, GIFs, movies, series and TV shows. With this material she creates html pages with endless scrolling, in which topics such as climate change, overpopulation and the global crises that threaten humanity are treated. It's in this context that Overpopulation fits: as you scroll through the content of the web page, the landscapes change, passing from crowded beaches to decaying cities, seeing food resources that are scarce and mountains of waste that increase.
