Martina della Valle FRAMED MEMORIES
in the occasion of Festival Filosofia 2015, held on the topic of "Inheritance", Metronom shows an exhibiiton of the project Framed Memories by Martina della Valle, inside our space in Via Carteria 8, located in the Modena city center.
Martina della Valle's work is a reflection about the concept of the sign, the footprint as a physical and inner sign, located by the time and by human actions inside some inhabited spaces or even just on the surface of some objects, belong to the everyday life. Martina Della Valle for Festival Filosofia offers us a set-up of Framed Memories, a project she started in 2009, getting the inspiration by an old photographic album she had found in Berlin.
The idea from the found photographs, often together with a quotation, some names or a date, opened the artist possibility for a new unreleased work, where every personal history is deliberately hidden and where just a small detail is for the viewer the only clue to discover something more about the protagonist, as if he is looking through a keyhole.
Begun as an artistic residency programme in Japan, Framed Memories series, that with the time passing has add more works, thanks to the cities the materias has been searched and joint together, is at the same time a relationship that different cultures has with the past, alongside with its representation.
