On Tuesday, March 4, 2025, the screening of 3D Animation Showreel (2023–2024) by Harriet Davey will begin, the second video presented as part of Pattern, the program curated by Gemma Fantacci and hosted on the Digital Video Wall (DVW) of Metronom. The unique location of the DVW allows 24-hour viewing from the street, transforming it into an urban intervention, a way to redesign and change the street's image.
Pattern is the theme chosen for this sixth edition of the DVW, which investigates how digital technologies and artificial intelligence shape our perception of the self, the body, and personal identity. This inquiry reflects on the evolution of digital aesthetics, questioning whether we are witnessing the consolidation of past ideals or the emergence of alternative forms.
Through the exploration of non-gender-conforming virtual avatars, Harriet Davey reclaims and reasserts the bodies exploited by a male-dominated gaming industry. Thanks to her avatar ‘Whowle,’ Davey can directly explore self-expression and gender identity in a form of digital ‘drag.’
