On Tuesday, April 1, 2025, the screening of Avispish (2022) by Joaquina Salgado will begin, the third video presented as part of Pattern, the program curated by Gemma Fantacci and hosted on the Digital Video Wall (DVW) of Metronom. The unique location of the DVW allows 24-hour viewing from the street, transforming it into an urban intervention, a way to redesign and change the street's image.
Pattern is the theme chosen for this sixth edition of the DVW, which investigates how digital technologies and artificial intelligence shape our perception of the self, the body, and personal identity. This inquiry reflects on the evolution of digital aesthetics, questioning whether we are witnessing the consolidation of past ideals or the emergence of alternative forms.
Avispish unfolds within real-time synthetic environments, inhabited by hybrid entities that oscillate between the virtual and the organic. The piece serves as an inquiry into the possibilities of self-construction in digital spaces, offering a reflection on the fusion of physical bodies and synthetic alter egos.
