Annabel Elgar | The Dust in my Pocket
On the occasion of the edition 2018 of festivalfilosofia Metronom presents The Dust in my Pocket, personal exhibition by English photographer Annabel Elgar, that held together a selection of recent works from the series Cheating the Moon and the premiere series Noon in the Desert.
The theme of truth in photography is a topic that ha been reconfigured following the development and the history of photography itself, today more than ever in comparison with the concepts of orginality and memory. The 'dust in the pocket' is a thin veil, a persistent but elusive trace at the same time, with which Annabel Elgar dialogues and loots at the same time, often presenting us an even more complex picture than the original one. The clues, the documents, the objects that Elgar presents in his images are the result of a meticulous work of investigation and reconstruction at the same time, even maintaining a disturbing and ambiguous quality that attracts and intrigues. Is the truth itself an "enigma"?
