THE ABSENCE | ATTILIO SOLZI
On the occasion of festivalfilosofia 2022 Metronom presents the solo show The Absence, a project by Attilio Solzi.
The Absence is the photographic project which Attilio Solzi carrie out over the course of a year: for 365 days the artist photographed everyday a specific poin in the suburbs of Cremona where prostitution activities are taking place. An empty chair is the main subject of these shots: its changing position and the variation of the nature around it are the only elements that mark the passing of time.
The Absence recorded by Solzi with awareness and technical rigor, is a photograph of what we cannot and do not want to see. With this project our gaze is guided if not forced, to look at these realities: the represented chair is able to tell us about people on the margins of society, for reasons of illegality and clandestinity, people that hasn't any kind of protection. Attilio Solzi with his intimate and careful gaze documents these realities and the invisible characters who inhabit it: a sequenxe silently upsets and moves the observer.
