On the occasion of festivalfilosofia 2024, at Arena - Spazio Culturale in Modena, Giulia Iacolutti presents a site-specific installation of the project I don't care (about football).
This project, which Iacolutti describes as artistic-participatory, involves the players of the Marangoni 105 football team, founded within the Department of Mental Health at the University of Udine. The team comprises patients as well as staff members and supporters.
Iacolutti's photographs are displayed in a unique installation designed specifically for the spaces of the former Cinema Arena, which has recently been restored.
The installation is based on the idea of ‘play as a supplement to reality’ and finds similarities in form and substance with the structure of moving images. The cinematic time, divided into first half, interval, and second half, mirrors the temporal structure of a football match. The installation is complemented by an original sound intervention, composed by Nicola Di Croce, which combines ambient sounds with melodic and instrumental distortions.
There is no representation of strength, power, triumph, or success; it is not a classic celebration of the athlete's body excelling in practice and displaying its ideal form. The gestures are minimal yet significant, such as stretching: slow movements, small millimetric achievements, holding positions, and controlling the body and the field.
